Tips for five letter words

For Wordle, put your green letters in the position boxes, your yellow letters in the letters box, and every gray letter in the exclude box. That combination usually leaves a handful of candidates.

  1. Let's say you're playing Scrabble and have the set of tiles A, E, L, R, T.

    To find all the 5 letter words you can make with these tiles, enter the letters into the "Make Words With These Letters" section and click "Find 5 Letter Words".

    You'll get all anagrams of the letters you entered, including words like ALERT, ALTER, LATER, RATEL, TALER.

  2. Let's say you're playing Wordle and after a few attempts, you know that the word you're looking:

    1. Contains the letters "A" and "C" somewhere (yellow tiles);
    2. The third letter is "D" (green tile);
    3. Ends with the letter "Y" (green tile);
    4. Does not contain the letters GBNMKPOI (gray tiles).

    To find such words, enter "AC" in the "Make Words With These Letters" section, "D" in the third box of the "Letters By Position" section, "Y" in the last box, and "GBNMKPOI" in the "Letters To Exclude" section. Then click "Find 5 Letter Words".

    This will give you all the words that fit the criteria. In this case only one word fits the criteria: CADDY.

  3. Let's say you're playing Scrabble and have the set of tiles A, S, R and one blank (wildcard) tile.

    Let's say there's some space below the letter "N" on the board and you'd like to make a word there.

    To find all the 5 letter words you can make with tiles you have plus "N" and the word must start with "N", enter "ASR?" into the "Make Words With These Letters" section and enter "N" in the first box of the "Letters By Position" section. Then click "Find 5 Letter Words".

  4. Let's say you want to find words that only contain the vowel "A" (no E, I, O, U). The "A" must also be present at least 2 times.
